2nd GTBAD Letter

October 1999

My Glad to Be Alive Day is almost here and we are all VERY excited!!!! It has been two years since they told me that I wasn't going to make it, but look I'm still here and going strong. Nobody expected me to do this well in all my life. This summer I went to Sky High Hope Camp and I did a ropes course and rode horses, which are all things I couldn't do last year. I am still going to school full time and walking all day except at lunch. My grades are as good as they can be and my life is almost perfect. I FEEL LIKE I HAVE A NORMAL LIFE FOR A TEENAGER!!! Right now I'm planning a ski trip with Children's Hospital and I am going to fly out to Aspen all by myself to a camp over Halloween weekend. I still am not at a good weight, but I'm gaining! All of my scans have been clear since last October, and only three more years till they say that I  am a true survivor. WE KNOW THOUGH THAT RIGHT NOW I ALREADY AM. I hope that everyone is doing good and that you will keep in touch. Also THANK YOU for keeping me in your thoughts and prayers. And don't forget to PARTY DOWN ON OCTOBER 22 and CELEBRATE LIFE!

With love,

Emily Brown
